All of our thoughts are turning to Christmas, which is usual for this time of year, although we already know that this Christmas is going to be far from normal.

There is still so much doubt about what we will and won’t be able to do during the festive period, with the likelihood that this will vary quite considerably from one part of the country to another and potentially also from one week to another.  One thing that there is no doubt about is that we all need something to look forward to and a little joy in our lives! We’ll also want to try to find that perfect gift especially if we are not going to be able to deliver them ourselves.

If you are able to go shopping in person then Crieff is a great choice, the town is compact and benefits from a large number of independent shops. It’s rarely crowded and there isn’t a shopping centre so if you are happy to brave what the weather throws at you you’ll be rewarded with lots of fresh, clean air. For foodies there is Campbell’s Bakery, J L Gill whisky shop and deli, Mcnee’s of Crieff deli & chocolatier and The Crieff Food Co, which I have seen described as ‘The Harrods of the north.’ For gift ideas try At Home Gifts, Blue Spirit, Jazz and Red Squirrel Café. For fashion and accessories there’s Ceegees, C’est la Vie Boutique and Valentines of Crieff.

If you’d prefer to keep your shopping online many Crieff businesses have their own websites and can deliver across the UK. These include: Fun Junction The Toy Stop; Gordon & Durward; Harrisons Fine Wines; House of Tartan;  J L Gill; The Glenturret Whisky; The Spence Gallery; The Strathearn Gallery; Planet Soap; Shipton & Heneage and Victoria Bloom.

If you have friends and family who live in Crieff and don’t really know what to buy them why not give them a Crieff Card? Valid for a year from purchase and accepted by many Crieff businesses, they are the ideal gift as the recipient can choose something they’d like. The card also helps to support local businesses and local employment, which this year is  more than essential than ever. Gift cards are also good for the environment, last year it is estimated that more than 21 million of us received at least one unwanted gift!  With these  gifts often ending up in recycling, as household rubbish or in charity shops. For more details or to buy a Crieff Card online click here or you can buy them in person from Fun Junction The Toy Stop.
